Microchip’s PIC18-Q43 family adds more Core Independent Peripherals with an extensive development tool ecosystem to improve real-time control.

The configurable peripherals on the chip have smart interconnection which allows near-zero latency sharing of data, logic inputs or analog signals without additional code. The series is intended for a wide range of real-time control and connected applications, reducing board space, BoM, costs and time to market.

Core Independent Peripherals (CIPs) can handle a variety of tasks without intervention from the CPU. The product family features CIPs such as timers, simplified Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) output, CLCs, Analog to Digital Converter with Computation (ADCC), multiple serial communications and more. The CLC features programmable logic that is faster than software execution. CLCs are the "glue" logic to connect on-chip peripherals for hardware customization. Core-independent communication interfaces include UART, SPI and I2C are building blocks for developers looking to create a customized device. The addition of multiple DMA channels and interrupt management accelerate real-time control with simplified software loops.

Microchip’s development tool suite allows developers to quickly generate application code and customize combinations of CIPs through the GUI. The family runs at up to 5V for better noise immunity and allow the easy interface to a wide range of sensors.
