Philips expands Luxeon family of warm white LEDs

June 15, 2012 // By Christoph Hammerschmidt
Philips Lumileds has introduced a power LED family that combines combines high lumen-density with warm white efficacies of over 100 lumens/watt at 3000K and a CRI of 80. The LUXEON M represents the latest addition to Philips' LUXEON power LED family. The new model series simplifies space constrained designs such as MR16-retrofit lamps and integrated spot luminaire designs.

The warm white additions will complement and extend existing color temperature offerings for the line and include 2700K and 3000K (both 80CRI) to give customers a wider array of choices.  Additional CCT and CRI versions available later this year.

LUXEON M helps luminaire and replacement lamp designers meet their design specification with the quality of light and performance that are Philips Lumileds hallmarks.  With its 85°C hot-tested Freedom From Binning Ô feature, compact 7 x 7 mm package, 11.2V input and 700+ lumen output, the LUXEON M provides an ideal platform for 12-volt, 35 and 50-watt MR-type lamps which are generally recognized as one of the more challenging replacement lamp categories. A completed series of third-party lenses and supporting demonstration designs will coincide with production availability.

“We consistently work to streamline our development process, working closely with our customers to understand their needs and deliver products that can help them stay ahead of the lighting market and meet their manufacturing needs,” said Rahul Bammi, vice president of products for Philips Lumileds.  “With LUXEON M our customers have the flexibility of different lenses, freedom from binning and our supporting demonstration designs that will help them speed their own time to market with a quality luminaire with impressive light quality and uniformity.”
